BIOGRAPHY

Kenshi Daito

Born in JAPAN in 1970.

Belonged to a pantomime theatrical company as an actor in 1990. From early 1990’s, engaged in drama production and movie production, began to make art works of photography.

In 2003, won the highest prize of CANON DIGITAL CREATORS CONTEST.

Mounting the first solo exhibition in 2004 in Tokyo.

Started to study of “alternative process” from 2006, and achieved to master the gum bichromate process, a pigment print technique, invented in 19century. Now continues to work with the alternative processes for researching the possibility of the expression in the historical photography technics.

In 2014, found the Tokyo Alternative Photography, an educational institution and a community group of the analog photography based in Tokyo. Holding the workshops and the group exhibitions as a director of it.
